ABOUT THE CLUB
We recognize that growing our sport requires appealing to a wide range of families and athletes. Our research highlights that to expand, we must make lacrosse more accessible – affordable, local, with low commitment. Our “house” program offers a local, family-focused option with an aim towards skills development and fun. The program is available for Grades K-5, with limited practice commitment, no game commitment, and all focus on competition is via practice and aims to grow a love for the game.
In parallel, our competitive teams participate in state-wide travel programs, the Arapahoe Youth League in the Spring and the South Suburban Youth League in the Fall – with most games occurring in the greater Denver metro area. Our research into sustained growth at the competitive level demonstrates that families and athletes have a strong desire to be part of high quality, successful programs. Our belief is that by combining athletes of similar age and experience, providing high-level leadership and coaching, and fostering a competitive environment, we can accelerate the girls’ athletic development, character growth, team success, and the overall appeal of lacrosse in our community. Our competitive program provides progressing levels of skills advancement, team focus, and competition. The program is available for Grades 3-8 and includes elevated expectations for player and family commitment.
Rostering, for all competitive teams, begins with a player assessment conducted by our coaching staff. Based on Fall 2024 numbers, and projected Spring 2025 numbers, we aim to field four competitive teams this Spring:
Patriot Black (8th) – 7th and 8th Graders (minimum 15 players to play 12v12)
Patriot Gray (7th) – 6th-8th Graders (minimum 15 players to play 12v12)
Patriot Red (5th) – 4th-6th Graders (minimum 13 players to play 10v10)
Patriot White (3rd) – 3rd and 4th Graders (minimum 11 players to play 8v8)
Our ability to have multiple competitive teams at any age group, in the same season, is dictated by numbers. If we are unable to offer a grade or skill level team at any age group, players may be required to play up or down as needed. Roster decisions will be made considering the needs of the athlete, the needs of the team, and the needs of the family. Each roster will include the numbers required to compete (varies by age group) plus a minimum of three additional players. It is the discretion of each Head Coach to choose whether to roster more than the minimum number of required players.
INDOOR WINTER TRAINING (HOLADAY ATHLETIC CENTER, AF ACADEMY)
We are excited to announce our second season of indoor Winter training at the HAC. Training is open to all players in Grades 3-8 and will emphasize strength, conditioning, and skills development in preparation for the upcoming season. We will execute training from 5:00 – 6:30 pm each Saturday, Jan 18th – Mar 8th. Numbers will determine how we separate however our plan is to execute via four training groups each week:
Goalies (Coach Montoya)
7th-9th (Coach Golaboski, Coach Kallhoff, Coach Makros, Coach Martinez, Coach Whiting-Wagner)
5th-6th (Coach Mohr, Coach Watson, Coach Powers)
3rd-4th (Coach Maynard, Coach Boyd, Coach Lucito)
Training will cost $15 per player, per session – costs will cover our HAC rental fees, and any profit will be re-invested into the Patriot Girl’s and Boy’s programs (e.g., balls, goals, nets, rebounders, fields). Players are welcome to participate in as many sessions as they choose (as little as one, or as many as all eight).
